Courtney Van Gilder is more than the ESG & Community Engagement Manager for SpartanNash; she is an impactful leader with a passion for fostering sustainability and community engagement, whose devotion to these causes shine through in every initiative she leads.

Courtney spearheaded SpartanNash's first-ever ESG report which continues to showcase the company's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Additionally, she has been a key driver of corporate and community initiatives, such as volunteer programs, sustainability partnerships and impactful campaigns like the Earth Day partnership with Trex and Home Repair Services to build decks for local veterans.

As a part of the Communications team Courtney also helps plan companywide events to support our People First culture like Veterans Day, Town Halls, holiday events, SpartanNash Summit, Blood Drives and Adopt a Road clean ups.

Beyond her primary role at SpartanNash, Courtney empowers women through co-chairing SpartanNash’s Women’s Initiative Network. Her dedication to and active participation in ESG groups has made a significant difference in cultivating an inclusion-centered workplace.

Courtney recently was named one of Crain’s Grand Rapids 40 Under 40 honorees.

As a new mom, Courtney’s commitment to making a difference has only deepened, and her warmth, dedication, vision and contributions embody the spirit of leadership and positive change.

Courtney is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science, Environmental Studies and a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing.
