Melissa Conway is Director of Community Partnerships & Giving at Meijer, a privately-owned and family-operated Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer that operates more than 500 supercenters, neighborhood markets, Meijer Grocery and Express locations throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Melissa joined Meijer in 2013, leading the internal communications function with a focus on bringing the company’s culture and strategic areas of focus to life for team members. In her current role, Melissa leads the company’s philanthropic giving and community sponsorship strategies across the six states where Meijer operates. This includes the company’s signature giving programs such as Simply Give, which recently celebrated generating $100M for the program since it’s inception, and Meijer Team Gives, which has provided donations to more than 1,500 local nonprofits chosen by Meijer team members. She also leads the company’s community engagement strategy, overseeing the company’s involvement with organizations ranging from major and minor league sports teams to local events and festivals that bring communities together.

Melissa was recognized by Progressive Grocer as a Top Women in Grocery - Rising Star in 2019. In addition, she has served on the board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan since 2018.

Originally from the Chicagoland area, Melissa spent most of her career in various communications and marketing roles across a variety of industries, most recently at companies including U.S. Cellular and R.R. Donnelley. Melissa is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and she holds a Master of Science in Communications degree from Northwestern University.
