Katherine “Kate” Mora is President of Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division and a dynamic retail executive known for delivering record-breaking results, driving innovation, and building high-performing teams in complex, multi-billion-dollar business environments. With more than 30 years of leadership experience across merchandising, operations, strategy, and transformation, Kate brings a people-first approach to leading growth, strengthening execution, and creating meaningful customer and community impact.
In her current role, Kate leads Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division with a focus on operational excellence, associate engagement, customer experience, and sustainable growth. She is recognized for translating strategy into disciplined execution, developing talent at every level, and advancing innovative ways to serve customers in an evolving retail landscape, including the successful introduction of Flashfood into the Mid-Atlantic Division, which delivered outstanding results over the past year.
Throughout her career, Kate has led large-scale initiatives that improve performance, strengthen teams, and modernize how work gets done. At Kroger, she has held leadership roles across merchandising and enterprise transformation, including serving as Vice President of Merchandising in the Michigan Division and as Sustainment Leader for E2E Fresh, where she partnered with merchandising, operations, supply chain, technology, and quality assurance to improve quality, freshness, shelf life, and operational efficiency.
Before joining Kroger, Kate held senior leadership roles with Walmart, including Regional General Manager and Vice President, leading a multi-billion-dollar region across three states and more than 30,000 associates. Her career foundation spans progressive store, market, regional, and division leadership roles, giving her deep expertise in operations, merchandising, people leadership, and P&L performance.
Kate is a Lean Six Sigma Certified Green Belt and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, with a major in Economics and a minor in Russian. She is especially passionate about developing leaders, advancing inclusive teams, and helping organizations turn ambitious goals into measurable results.
Beyond her business leadership, Kate is committed to service and community impact. She serves on the Board of Directors for Feed More Food Bank in Richmond, Virginia, and has also served as a board member for Gleaners Food Bank in Detroit, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina-Charlotte, and the USO of North Carolina. She is also an executive sponsor for a Kroger associate resource group focused on developing future leaders, strengthening networks for women, and creating a more inclusive workplace.
